  1. Would love to have a behind the scenes tour of the beginning to end of where they get the clay, how they throw it on the wheel, to all of the paints and glazes they use, and how big are the kins. Are they making new designs or just staying with the traditional ones? Is the make up of the clay the same today as yesteryear? A potters wheel has always fascinated me since I was a child. To see an expert on the wheel would be fantastic ! We will be in Caltagirone one of these 4 days, 10/7/23-10/10/23. If you could make a suggestions I would be very grateful. Great information of the local culture. Will be looking forward to hearing from you.

    • Hi Francie! So glad you enjoyed our insights! You might try contacting the Museo della Ceramica and Silva Ceramica that are both mentioned in the piece and see if they can make a recommendation. If you are looking for a professional guide, you might try Undiscovered Sicily who we used on a couple of occasions and I can recommend. Enjoy!
